IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Mrs. Dawn Jacobi and her husband James are residents of Destrehan, Louisiana in St. Charles Parish and the parents of four children, Kara attending college at Notre Dame, Eric attending college at LSU, Kaitlyn a senior at Destrehan High School, and Matthew a 7th grader at Harry Hurst; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Jacobi is an eight year veteran teaching honors mathematics in grades 9 - 12 at Destrehan High School; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Jacobi graduated from the University of New Orleans with a BA in Mathematics and a Masters Degree in Gifted Education and Special Education; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Jacobi is a National Board Certified Teacher and a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the National Association of Gifted Children; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Jacobi is the honors community team leader at Destrehan High and has presented several other schools with the 4 X 4 block program, a program where students attend 4 classes at ninety minutes per class; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Jacobi was named 2004 High School Teacher of the Year from among 24 finalists. This is a year long selection process - nominations come from the local school system and are based on teaching skills; dedication; plans to continue in the profession; respect of students, parents, and co-workers; community leadership; contributions to school groups; affiliations with educational organizations; and demonstration of a superior ability to inspire students of all backgrounds and abilities to learn.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
