Title

A resolution authorizing the Secretary to contact the Levee Board, U. S. Corps of Engineers, Department of Natural Resources, or other permitting agencies, when a complaint is lodged, in an effort to request that they enforce their permitting rules and regulations that the height of a sand stockpile is not to exceed the height of the mainline levee at the location of storage.

Body

WHEREAS,                     this resolution complies with the guidelines of the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Lafourche Basin Levee District; and other permitting agencies; and,

WHEREAS,                     stockpiles that are visible above the levee line are attractions to children of the Parish offering unnecessary and hazardous playgrounds; and,

WHEREAS,                     blowing of sand onto the highway, bike path and surrounding neighborhoods can cause hazardous conditions and some health problems.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby authorize the Secretary to contact the Levee Board, U. S. Corps of Engineers, Department of Natural Resources, or other permitting agencies, when a complaint is lodged, in an effort to request that they enforce their permitting rules and regulations that the height of a sand stockpile is not to exceed the height of the mainline levee at the location of storage.
