Title
An ordinance to amend Ordinance No. 13-5-14 and Ordinance No. 19-12-16, as previously amended, to provide for the change of Polling Place for Precinct 6-1 in Montz, Louisiana from Zephirin Perilloux Firehouse, 17830 River Road, Montz to the Montz Community Center, 152 Union Lane, Montz.

WHEREAS, in an effort to better serve the public on Election Day, the Parish has been in discussions with the Clerk of Court and the Registrar of Voters in regards to conditions at Precinct 6-1; and,
WHEREAS, as a result of these discussions it was determined that Precinct 6-1 should be relocated; and,
WHEREAS, the Parish President requested a temporary emergency move of the Polling Place for Precinct 6-1 from the Zephirin Perilloux Firehouse, 17830 River Road, Montz, LA to the Montz Community Center, 152 Union Lane, Montz, LA for the November 3, 2020 and the December 5, 2020 elections which was approved by the Louisiana Secretary of State; and,
WHEREAS, on February 8, 2021, the Parish Council enacted Ordinance No. 21-2-4 requesting an emergency temporary change of polling place for the March 20, 2021 and the April 24, 2021 elections which was approved by the Louisianan Secretary of State; and,
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 21-2-4 along with the Lease with Providence Baptist Church, Number Two of Montz, Louisiana, Inc. was recorded at COB 902, folio 244, Entry No. 456235 on February 11, 2021 in the official records of St. Charles Parish, lease effective January 19, 2021 and expiring on December 31, 2021; and,
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Parish Council to make said change permanent.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That Ordinance No. 13-5-14 and Ordinance No. 19-12-16 are hereby amended by changing the following Polling Place:
Precinct 6-1
From: Zephirin Perilloux Firehouse, 17830 River Road, Montz, LA
To: Montz Community Center, 152 Union Lane, Montz, LA
SECTION II. That all other Sections of Ordinance No. 13-5-14 and Ordinance No. 19-12-16 remain as first written or previously amended.
SECTION III. The Parish President executed said Lease with Providence Baptist Church, Number Two of Montz, Louisiana, Inc. on January 19, 2021 for the Montz Community Center, 152 Union Lane, Montz, LA 70068 effective January 19, 2021 and expiring on December 31, 2021.
The foregoing ordinance having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:
And the ordinance was declared adopted this ______ day of __________, 2021, to become effective five (5) days after publication in the Official Journal.
