Title
An ordinance to approve and authorize the execution of a Contract with Lamar Contractors, Inc., for the construction of Hurricane Gustav/Ike Community Develoment Block Grant (CDBG) Disaster Recovery Program Project No. 45PARA3201, the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center, located at 274 Judge Edward Dufresne Parkway (formerly Sugarland Parkway) in Luling, with Base Bid, Alternate No. 1, and Alternate No. 2, in the amount of $10,565,980.00.
Body
WHEREAS, sealed bids were received by St. Charles Parish on October 21, 2011, for Project No. 45PARA3201, the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center; and,
WHEREAS, Sizeler Thompson Brown Architects - Regional Design Group, LLC, Ken Zito, AIA, Associate, the Architect for said project, has reviewed the bids and recommended that the Contract be awarded to the low bidder, Lamar Contractors, Inc., in the amount of $10,565,980.00; and,
WHEREAS, grant funding is available for said project as follows:
$ 7,809,266.00 HUD Community Development Block Grant-DR
$ 139,000.00 OCD Local Government Assistance Program
$ 275,000.00 FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant
$ 8,223,266.00 Total
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of St. Charles Parish to award the Base Bid (community center), Alternate No. 1 (generator), and Alternate No. 2 (gymnasium expansion), for the benefit of all residents of the Parish.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That the bid of Lamar Contractors, Inc., for the construction of Hurricane Gustav/Ike Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Disaster Recovery Program Project No. 45PARA3201, the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center, with Base Bid, Alternate No. 1, and Alternate No. 2, is hereby approved and accepted in the amount of $10,565,980.00.
SECTION II. That the Parish President is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of St. Charles Parish.
