IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, John Joseph “Joe” Ganote began his career in public service at the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division at the rank of Deputy in June of 1998; and,
WHEREAS, Joe successfully served in many positions during his tenure at the Sheriff’s Office including Deputy in Uniformed Patrol Division, and Detective in Special Investigations and Criminal Investigations Divisions; and,
WHEREAS, Joe was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in March 2008, promoted to Lieutenant in October of 2009, then finally promoted to Captain in 2013; and,
WHEREAS, Joe graduated from the 247th Session of the FBI National Academy in December of 2011. He also served on the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team as an operator from 2003 to 2006, Team Leader from 2006 to 2008, Assistant Commander from 2008 to 2011, and Team Commander from 2001 to 2016; and,
WHEREAS, Joe joined St. Charles Parish Government as the Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness in May 2016. During his tenure, he led the only 24/7 Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in the State of Louisiana through numerous major events, varying from industry incidents to the worse tropical event to impact our area, Hurricane Ida; and,
WHEREAS, Joe played an instrumental role in increasing the St. Charles Parish EOC’s capabilities with a one-of-a-kind drone detection system and advanced weather stations; and,
WHEREAS, Joe served in many leadership roles including Board Member for the United Way of St. Charles, Chairman of the Louisiana State Regional Directors Task Force, Chairman for the Louisiana Region 3 Task Force, sits on the Area Maritime Security Committee through the Coast Guard, and is a member of InfraGard; and,
WHEREAS, the leadership and tenacity he brought to the St. Charles Parish EOC will be greatly missed. We all wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
