RESOLUTION NO.     5721      

Title

A resolution requesting the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development to install a "Prepare to Stop When Flashing" sign and signal in the west bound lane of Highway 90 before the traffic signal at Willowdale Boulevard in Luling.

Body

WHEREAS,      Highway 90 is a very heavily traveled roadway; and,

WHEREAS,      travelling west bound from Jefferson Parish, there exist a blind curve before approaching the signal light located at Willowdale Boulevard; and,

WHEREAS,      vehicles, especially large trucks travel this area at a high rate of speed, making it difficult to stop without prior warning; and,

WHEREAS,      school buses and other vehicular traffic are placed in danger when turning west bound on Highway 90.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby request that the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development install a "Prepare to Stop When Flashing" sign and signal in the west bound lane of Highway 90 before the traffic signal at Willowdale Boulevard in Luling.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Governor Bobby Jindal, Department of Transportation & Development Secretary Mr. William Ankner, Department of Transportation & Development Traffic Operations Engineer Mr. Steve Strength, Senator Joel T. Chaisson, II, Representative Gary L. Smith, Jr., and Representative Ernest D. Wooton asking their assistance in this regard.
