Proclamation: Fire Prevention Week in St. Charles Parish

P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, it is important that the community reflect on the seriousness of Fire Prevention Week; and,
WHEREAS, Fire Prevention Week commemorates the great Chicago Fire of 1871 which killed more than 200 people, left 100,000 homeless and destroyed more than 17,400 buildings; and,
WHEREAS, the local efforts of the fire service are supported by the activities of organizations such as the American Red Cross, the Congressional Fire Services Institute, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and its United States Fire Administration, the Fire Marshals Association of North America, the International Association of Black Professional Fire Fighters, the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the International Association of Fire Fighters, the National Association of State Fire Marshals, the National Fire Protection Association, the National Volunteer Fire Council, and the Louisiana State Fire Chiefs Association.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM OCTOBER 7 - 13, 2001, AS
"FIRE PREVENTION WEEK
IN
ST. CHARLES PARISH"
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY CALL UPON THE PEOPLE OF ST. CHARLES PARISH TO PARTICIPATE IN FIRE PREVENTION ACTIVITIES AT HOME, WORK AND SCHOOL AND TO HEED THE 2001 THEME
"COVER THE BASES AND STRIKE OUT FIRE"
