The Parish of St. Charles

                     January 22, 2007

IN   RECOGNITION

WHEREAS,                     Dina Becnel and her husband Michael are residents of St. Charles Parish residing in Destrehan.  They are the proud parents of three children Kristen, Brandon, and Jason, and two grandchildren Amber and Jonathon; and,

WHEREAS,                     Dina has many treasured pets, is an avid animal lover, and has proven many times over the years her dedication to the show dog circuit, traveling extensively and winning hundreds of ribbons; and,

WHEREAS,                     Dina has proven her love of animals by coming to the aid of the St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter on numerous occasions with not only volunteer work but many donations that has enhanced the treatment of animals in our Shelter; and,

WHEREAS,                     without her help during Hurricane Katrina, in which she supplied several generators, flashlights, fans, and everything in between tarps to extension cords, including extensive travel to obtain food and additional supplies to enhancing the quality of life for the many animals that were stranded during these difficult times in our Shelter; and,

WHEREAS,                     in addition to her support with equipment and many, many, unselfish hours of volunteered service with various rescue groups she also eased the severe over crowding at the Shelter by arranging for transportation of animals to various rescue locations in addition she contributed to the Animal Shelter a Centrifuge, which is an expensive piece of equipment used to breakdown blood for diagnostic purposes; and,

WHEREAS,                     during the three weeks without electricity at the shelter Dina was our light at the end of the tunnel.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to

DINA BECNEL

DEDICATED ANIMAL LOVER & PROVIDER
