IN   RECOGNITION
WHEREAS,      Judge Mary Ann Vial Lemmon and her husband Justice Harry Lemmon are residents of Luling, Louisiana in St. Charles Parish, they are the proud parents of six children and eight wonderful grandchildren; and,
WHEREAS,      Judge Lemmon, a State District Court Judge for 15 years has served on the Executive Committees of the Louisiana District Judges Association, and of the American Bar Association National Conference of State Trial Judges; and,
WHEREAS,      Judge Lemmon has also served on the Executive Committee of the American Bar Association National Conference of Federal Trial Judges, has for several years chaired the educational programs committee and the long range planning committee for that conference; and,
WHEREAS,      Judge Lemmon chairs the Local Rules Committee in the Eastern District.  She is a member of the Education Committee of the Louisiana Bar Foundation and participates in numerous judicial outreach programs, and serves on the Council of the Louisiana State Law Institute as the Representative of the Louisiana Federal Courts.  She is an emeritus member of the Loyola Law School Visiting Committee; and,
WHEREAS,      Judge Lemmon of the United States Court District for the Eastern District of Louisiana became Chair of the National Conference of Federal Trial Judges at the Annual Meeting of the American Bar Association in Atlanta; the conference includes U. S. District, Magistrate, Bankruptcy, Claims, Tax and International Trade Court Judges; and,
WHEREAS,      in accepting the role of Chair Judge Lemmon announced the formation of the Congressional Affairs Committee.  She has stated that "the recent sessions of Congress has been filled with issues of extreme importance to the Judges, especially in terms of judicial importance."  "The committee will work closely with other judicial entities in an attempt to open dialogue between the legislative and judicial branches on current issues affecting the judiciary."
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
