Proclamation: "National One-Stop Day"

P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, nearly 16 million Americans receive job placement assistance from the Nation's One-Stop Career Centers; and,
WHEREAS, 75% of current American workers will need to be retrained to retain their jobs in the coming years; and,
WHEREAS, the mission of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 is to consolidate, coordinate, and improve employment, training, literacy, and vocational rehabilitation programs in the United States; and,
WHEREAS, the One-Stop Career Centers are a product of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998; and,
WHEREAS, One-Stop Career Centers play a critical role in getting Americans back to work in the ever-changing global economy by providing local labor market information, skills training, and available jobs; and,
WHEREAS, National "One-Stop Days" are being organized across the Country the week of May 24 through May 31, 2005, to recognize the contributions of the One-Stop Centers; and,
WHEREAS, the River Parishes Workforce Investment Board will host an "Open House" on May 25, 2005, in recognition of the valuable services provided by the Local Workforce Investment Area 14 One-Stop Career Centers; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Council and Parish President join others across the Nation in recognizing May 24 through May 31, 2005, as "National One-Stop Days".
NOW, THEREFORE, WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM WEDNESDAY, MAY 25, 2005, AS
"NATIONAL ONE-STOP DAY"
IN ST. CHARLES PARISH, AND DO HEREBY INVITE AND ENCOURAGE THE CITIZENS OF ST. CHARLES PARISH TO ATTEND THE OPEN HOUSE OF THE ONE-STOP CAREER CENTER AT 737 PAUL MAILLARD ROAD, SUITE 2A, LULING, ON MAY 25, 2005, FROM 10:00 AM TO 3:00 PM.
