Proclamation: “King Kat Fishing Tournament Weekend”

P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, the River Parishes Tourist Commission is hosting a King Kat Fishing Tournament in St. Charles Parish, September 22-23, 2023, with the local events taking place in Lac Des Allemands, Lake Salvador, and the Mississippi River, I-10 from Baton Rouge to Venice; and,
WHEREAS, teams of three compete on a national level in local qualifier events, which draw in more family competitors and also brings in competitors that otherwise would not compete in tournament fishing. To encourage further family involvement, a fourth person on the team who is under 16 or over 65 is allowed at no charge; and,
WHEREAS, the tournament will also host the King Kids Fishing Rodeo to be held in the Bonnet Carre Spillway on Saturday, September 23, 2023, where all kids, ages 15 and under are welcome. Participants will have their names entered into a scholarship drawing at the end of the year; and,
WHEREAS, the tournament’s final weigh-in site will be held in conjunction with the Alligator Festival, at the West Bank Bridge Park on Saturday, September 23, 2023.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, WE THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 22 - 23, 2023, AS
“KING KAT FISHING TOURNAMENT WEEKEND”
IN ST. CHARLES PARISH AND URGE OUR CITIZENS TO JOIN IN FOR A WEEKEND OF FISHING, FUN, AND FESTIVITIES WITH THE PERFECT BLEND OF OUTDOOR EXCITEMENT AND COMMUNITY CELEBRATION.
