Title
An ordinance to amend Ordinance No. 03-8-5, Ordinance No. 03-8-6, Ordinance No. 03-8-7, and Ordinance No. 03-8-8 to establish a standard Vendors Compensation for the Collection of local sales tax.
Body
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Police Jury adopted Ordinance No. 66-3-486 on May 7, 1979, which levied a one-half of one percent sales (1/2%) and use tax which was amended by Ordinance No. 03-8-5 on August 18, 2003; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Council adopted Ordinance No. 80-1-7 on January 21, 1980, which levied a one-eighth of one percent (1/8%) sales and use tax which was amended by Ordinance No. 03-8-6 on August 18, 2003; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Council adopted Ordinance No. 83-5-17 on May 16, 1983, which levied a three-eighths of one percent (3/8%) sales and use tax which was amended by Ordinance No. 03-8-7 on August 18, 2003; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Council adopted Ordinance No. 88-8-10 on August 1, 1988, which levied a one percent (1%) sales and use tax which was amended by Ordinance No. 03-8-8 on August 18, 2003; and,
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Parish Council to amend said ordinances to establish a standard Vendors Compensation for the Collection of local sales taxes.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That Ordinance No. 03-8-5, Ordinance No. 03-8-6, Ordinance No. 03-8-7, and Ordinance No. 03-8-8 are hereby amended in Section VI. to read as follows:
SECTION VI. VENDORS COMPENSATION - Vendors compensation is hereby set at one-percent (1%) of collections, effective July 1, 2005.

And the ordinance was declared adopted this day of , 2005, to become effective five (5) days after publication in the Official Journal.
