ORDINANCE NO.                   
Title
An ordinance to approve and authorize the execution of a Construction Contract with Sealevel Construction, Inc. for Project No. P090404, Engineer's Canal PS Bar Screen Cleaner Project in the amount of $1,432,981.00.
Body
WHEREAS,      sealed bids were received by St. Charles Parish on April 7, 2011 for Project No. P090404, Engineer's Canal PS Bar Screen Cleaner Project; and,
WHEREAS,      Principal Engineering, Andre Monnot, P.E., the Engineer for the Project, has reviewed the bids and recommend that the Contract be awarded to the low bidder, Sealevel Construction, Inc. in the amount of $1,432,981.00; and,
WHEREAS,      the existing Engineer's Canal Pump Station does not have Bar Screen Cleaners installed and the accumulation of debris at the Pump inlets must currently be cleaned manually, automated Bar Screen cleaners will ensure that the pump inlets are maintained in a clean condition, thus enabling the Engineer's Canal Pump Station to operate at maximum efficiency during high rainfall and storm conditions; and,
WHEREAS,      the construction costs for this project will be funded with a FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant (HMGP# 1603c-089-0020, FEMA Project No. 0189) awarded to the Parish in the amount of $1,897,934.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I.      That the bid of Sealevel Construction, Inc., for the installation of the Bar Screen Cleaners to the Engineer's Canal Pump Station under Project No. P090404, Engineer's Canal PS Bar Screen Cleaner Project, be hereby accepted, in the amount of $1,432,981.00.
SECTION II.      That the Parish President is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of the Parish of St. Charles.
