Proclamation: "National Night Out"

P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) is sponsoring a unique, nationwide crime and drug prevention program on August 4, 2009, called "National Night Out"; and,
WHEREAS, the "26th Annual National Night Out" provides a unique opportunity for St. Charles Parish to join forces with thousands of other communities across the country in promoting cooperative police-community crime and drug prevention efforts; and,
WHEREAS, the Council plays a vital role in assisting the Sheriff's Department through joint crime and drug prevention efforts in St. Charles Parish and is supporting "National Night Out 2009" locally; and,
WHEREAS, it is essential that all citizens of St. Charles Parish be aware of the importance of crime prevention programs and impact that their participation can have on reducing crime, drugs, and violence in St. Charles Parish; and,
WHEREAS, police-community partnerships and neighborhood safety, awareness, and cooperation are important themes of the "National Night Out" program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY call upon all citizens of St. Charles Parish to join the Sheriff's Department and the National Association of Town Watch in supporting the "26th Annual National Night Out" on August 4, 2009; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, WE, THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby proclaim Tuesday, August 4, 2009, from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM as
"NATIONAL NIGHT OUT"
in St. Charles Parish.
