IN   RECOGNITION
 
WHEREAS,      Betty Jean Bye is a resident of St. Charles Parish residing in Luling, Louisiana with her husband Damase; they are the proud parents of Dan, Gina, Amy, Kelly, and Rae Lynn; the proud grandparents of 8 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and,
WHEREAS,      Betty is a 1963 graduate of East Jefferson High School and earned an Associates Degree in Cosmetology and Fashion Design from Phillips Junior College; she is the owner and stylist at Ta Ta Palace Salon; and,
WHEREAS,      Betty is a charter member of the LASPCA, the Alzheimer's Association of Louisiana, Founder of Grandmothers Helping Grandmothers, a member of the New Orleans Track Club, a returning member of the St. Charles Parish Relay for Life, Captain of the Damase Bye Alzheimer's Research Benefit, and a foster parent to pets from New Orleans shelters; and,
WHEREAS,      Betty's hobbies include refurbishing and repurposing furniture, pageantry, scrapbooking, giving makeovers to women in need of greater self-confidence, running track, and volunteering her time with benefits around the State of Louisiana; and,
WHEREAS,      Betty was crowned Ms. Classic Queen of the St. Charles Parish Relay for Life Pageant held on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at the John L. Dorsey Multi-Purpose Center in Boutte; and,
WHEREAS,      Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society's signature activity uniting communities to celebrate cancer survivors, remember people who lost their battle to the disease, and honor those still fighting while raising awareness and funds for the fight against cancer.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
