Title
A resolution supporting the application for the inclusion of a high priority water system improvement in Louisiana Office of Community Development Local Government Assistance Program.
Body
WHEREAS, Louisiana Legislative House Bill 2 (Act 27) allocated $10 million for a community assistance program for local governments; and,
WHEREAS, the amount available to each parish for the fiscal year is $142,800; and,
WHEREAS, Fire Protection and Water System improvements qualify for the allocated funding; and,
WHEREAS, the installation of approximately 3000' of new 12" watermain to replace an aging 8" cast iron watermain along Louisiana Highway 631 will improve water quality and fire flow ratings in the Boutte / Paradis area; and,
WHEREAS, the improved fire flow ratings will help the Paradis Volunteer Fire Department in raising their fire insurance rating to the previously held Class 3; and,
WHEREAS, the Parish President and the Department of Waterworks requests the Council's support for the application to have this recommended improvement included in the Louisiana Office of Community Development Local Government Assistance Program.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, hereby provide this resolution to support the application for the inclusion of a high priority water system improvement in the Louisiana Office of Community Development Local Government Assistance Program.
