IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, beginning 2005 Valero was ranked as the top performer among the Nation's largest companies and was named as one of the top U. S. Employers; and,
WHEREAS, Valero ranked No. 1 on the Forbes Magazine's annual list of the "Platinum 400", was listed "Oil Company of the Year" from oil companies around the world as part of the Platt's Global Energy Awards Program based on overall performance and leadership in the industry, and is ranked among the "Best Managed Companies in America" in the January 10, 2005 issue of Forbes Magazine; and,
WHEREAS, Valero is a Fortune 500 Company based in San Antonio, with approximately 20,000 employees and annual revenues of more than $55 billion; and,
WHEREAS, Valero has 15 refineries throughout the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean with one located in Norco, Louisiana; and,
WHEREAS, Valero started their operations in St. Charles Parish in July 2003, with 550 full-time employees, 150 full-time contract employees, and 1,000 new construction jobs; and,
WHEREAS, Valero's Norco Operation sits on 1,000 acres of property, produces 275 thousand barrels of oil per day, and has made a number of capital improvements to operations; and,
WHEREAS, Valero is classified as a Good Neighbor in St. Charles Parish contributing $1 Million Dollars to the Community in Charity and United Way Organizations; and,
WHEREAS, Valero is an active member of the Community by being part of the United Way, on the Board of Junior Achievement, member of the River Region Chamber of Commerce, and ARC of St. Charles; and,
WHEREAS, Valero demonstrated their commitment to the community in April 2004 helping the residents of Norco with clean up from the flood.
NOW, THEREFORE, WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY CONGRATULATE VALERO ENERGY CORPORATION AS BEING RANKED
