IN   RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Kathleen Landry, R.N. a resident of St. Charles Parish and a nurse for 29 years, had a long time dream to open an Adult Day Care Center; and,
WHEREAS, in September, 1985, with the assistance of Congressman Billy Tauzin and the Congressional Research Services, Kathleen Landry's long time dream began to take root; and,
WHEREAS, from 1985 to August 1986 Kathleen Landry was busy finalizing plans with Father Bob Cooper, Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Norco, Archbishop Hannan of the Archdiocese of New Orleans, the State of Louisiana, and St. Charles Parish Planning and Zoning Commission to make her dream a reality; and,
WHEREAS, Kathleen Landry, with the help of many interested Parishioners of Sacred Heart, the Council on Aging of St. Charles Parish, community supporters, friends and family announced April 20, 1987, as the official day of "Opening of the Norco Adult Day Care Center"; and,
WHEREAS, with the foresight, dedication, and medical knowledge of Kathleen Landry, her late Husband Sam, her Mom Ruth Hamilton and many volunteers in the early stages of development of the Center and with their help today, the Center will celebrate 15 years of operation, with April 17, 2002, as the 15th Annual Norco Day Care Center Open House; and,
WHEREAS, during the past 15 years Kathleen Landry has seen 171 clients coming though the doors of the Center which supports both the East and West Bank Residences and Residences from surrounding Parishes; and,
WHEREAS, Kathleen Landry has been recognized locally and nationally with her most recent invitation to speak at a Conference of the National Council of Aging and the American Society on Aging, her topic being "How to start and successfully operate an Adult Day Care Center"; and,
WHEREAS, Kathleen Landry currently enjoys the honor of being a Member of the St. Charles Parish Hospital Board and her years of service to the Parish, Senior Citizens, handicapped, and disabled should be a source of pride and admired by all.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
KATHLEEN LANDRY
"PARISH   OF   PLENTY"
created in 1807 from the county of the
"German Coast", a parish of
unprecedented economic and social
development, known for its
hospitality, rural living and sporting
opportunitiesÂ… with the added
distinction of being located
on both sides of the
Mighty Mississippi River.
