IN   RECOGNITION

WHEREAS,                     Kevin “Sonny” Gullage, was raised in St. Charles Parish, Louisiana, to the proud parents of Tony and Dr. Stephanie Gullage; and,

 

WHEREAS,                     Kevin, a seasoned performer and songwriter, who wrote his first song at age 12, about the environmental and economic devastation caused by the BP Oil spill; and,

 

WHEREAS,                     before launching his solo career, Kevin performed as an artist in residence at B.B. King’s Blues Club in New Orleans.  As frontman of “Kevin & The Blues Groovers” he had plenty of opportunities to fine-tune his skills as a musician and a performer; and,

 

WHEREAS,                     Kevin took a leap of faith by trying out for American Idol, where he advanced to the Showstopper round in Hollywood, California, and has since then toured extensively across the U.S. and Europe.  In addition, he has composed music for film and has made appearances in movies like “The Last Laugh” and “Burning Cane”.  His voice was also featured in the 2019 release of Disney’s “Lady & the Tramp”; and,

 

WHEREAS,                     Kevin signed with Basin Street Records in early 2022, and released Kevin & the Blues Groovers first full-length LP, “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed Blues”; and,

 

WHEREAS,                     Kevin released a solo album “Go Be Free”, in August 2024, where the 12-song collection takes listeners on a modern blues odyssey with a blend of traditional blues, gospel and R&B influences; and,

 

WHEREAS,                     with “Go Be Free”, Kevin aspires to release a debut that not only honors the blues tradition but also pushes it forward into new, exciting territory.

 

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, WE THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this recognition to

 

KEVIN “SONNY” GULLAGE

ON HIS FIRST PRODUCED SOLO ALBUM

   PARISH   OF   PLENTY”

created in 1807 from the county of the

“German Coast”, a parish of

unprecedented economic and social

development, known for its

hospitality, rural living and sporting

opportunities… with the added

distinction of being located

on both sides of the

Mighty Mississippi River.
