Title
An ordinance to amend the St. Charles Parish Code to adjust the Service Charge for the Solid Waste Collection and Disposal Service for St. Charles Parish.
Body
WHEREAS, the Contract for Solid Waste Collection mandates that adjustments be made each year to the Collection Fees based on the Consumer Price Index; and,
WHEREAS, the Consumer Price Index for the current period is 1.4% which equates to a $.07 per unit per month increase for collection services; and,
WHEREAS, as per Ordinance No. 93-11-11, the Solid Waste Disposal Charge will increase on June 1, 1998, from $8.00 to $8.50 per cubic yard which equates to $.22 per unit per month; and,
WHEREAS, the monthly service charge will increase, effective June 1, 1998, from $8.88 per month ($5.33 Collection; $3.21 Disposal; $.24 Administrative; $.10 Billing Fee) to $9.17 per month ($5.40 Collection; $3.43 Disposal; $.24 Administrative; $.10 Billing Fee).
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That Chapter 10, Article II, Section 10 - 22 (a) is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(a.) Levied: That a monthly Service Charge of nine dollars and seven cents ($9.07) per month is hereby established and levied for each Residential Unit and Commercial Unit within the Parish of St. Charles as defined in the Parish's current Solid Waste Collection Contract, effective June 1, 1998.
SECTION II. That the total monthly Service Charge to each unit shall be $9.17 per month (including the $.10 per month billing fee).

The foregoing ordinance having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:
