  IN   RECOGNITION

 

WHEREAS,                     Amanda M. Sullivan is a resident of St. Charles Parish residing in Norco, Louisiana and is the daughter of Ursin & Dawn Abbate and Gary & Karol Sullivan; and,

WHEREAS,                     Amanda is a Senior at Destrehan High School and plans to attend Louisiana State University to major in Merchandising and Apparel Design; and,

WHEREAS,                     Amanda is an Honor Roll Student, a member of Who's Who Among High School Students, a member of the Student Council, has received the Outstanding Art Award, Congressional Leadership Award, and the National Youth Leadership Award; and,

WHEREAS,                     Amanda has been a dancer for fourteen years and is a Three-year Letterman for the Desty Darlings Dance Team at Destrehan High School, and was a member of the Destrehan Homecoming Court; and,

WHEREAS,                     Amanda is a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, participates and volunteers with the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, Interact - Rotary Club, Kids for Katrina Kindness, German Coast Farmer's Market, Scooter Promotions, Norco Booster Club, and the Gumbo Krewe; and,

WHEREAS,                     Amanda enjoys spending time with her family and friends, designing apparel, drawing, sketching, painting, sewing, shopping, traveling, reading, exercising, and volunteering in Parish and Community events; she describes herself as being adventurous, motivated, and self-confident; and,

WHEREAS,                     Amanda believes "Katrina taught us a valuable lesson last year that material things can be replaced but not your loved ones, so I cherish each day even more".

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to

AMANDA M. SULLIVAN

MISS ST. CHARLES PARISH FESTIVAL QUEEN XLVIII
