WHEREAS, the Destrehan High School LadyCats Basketball Team have excelled in the District 6-5A Basketball Season, finishing undefeated in the regular season; and,
WHEREAS, the LadyCats were District Champions for the last 5 consecutive years and faced a tough road on their way to the State 6-5A Championship held at Southeastern Louisiana University Center in Hammond, Louisiana; and,
WHEREAS, the LadyCats bested Airline and New Iberia in the first and second rounds of the playoffs and rallied back from an 8 point halftime deficit to qualify for the semifinals, defeating Ouachita Parish in the quarterfinal round and then defeating Natchitoches Central in the semifinals, advancing them to the finals; and,
WHEREAS, on March 4, 2017, No. 3 seeded Destrehan LadyCats defeated No. 1 seeded Barbe High School 62-57, capturing the first state basketball championship in Destrehan High School’s history; and,
WHEREAS, members of the Parish Council and the Parish President wish to recognize the outstanding performance of the Destrehan High School LadyCats Basketball Team and their Coaching Staff.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY RECOGNIZE
