TRIBUTE

 

Division A, Councilman-At-Large LANCE MARINO is a lifelong resident of Norco.  He is married to Mary Waguespack and they are the proud parents of Jacob, Elena, Rachel, and Dominic.

 

Lance is completing his second term in office.  He was first elected in 1999 as the District VI, Councilman and in 2003, was elected as Councilman-At-Large, Division A.  He is a 1979 graduate of Destrehan High School and received a Bachelor's Degree from the University of New Orleans and also attended Louisiana State University. 

 

Lance is an independent insurance broker specializing in employee benefits.  He markets products such as disability, cancer, and accident plans to help individuals in the workplace supplement their hospitalization programs.

 

Lance is a member of the Republican Parish Executive Committee representing District VI, a position to which he was elected with no opposition in the year 2000.  He was re-elected to that seat in 2004.

 

Lance is Membership Director of the Knights of Columbus and a Past Grand Knight, Red Church Council #3634; Publicity Director and Membership Director of the Norco Lions Club; and former Chairman of Crime Prevention and Safety Committee/Norco Civic Association.

 

During his time in Office, Lance focused on building relationships with business and industry in order to promote economic development and to achieve mutual goals such as hurricane protection and pumping capacity for the good of all in St. Charles Parish.  Vigilant of growth and safety/security issues, he cooperated with other agencies to promote ever-improving quality of life in our communities.

 

Lance served two consecutive years as Council Chairman in the years 2003 and 2004 and as Vice-Chairman in the year 2002.  He served as Chairman of the Legislative Committee and served on the Operations, Maintenance, and Construction Management Committee, Contract/Finance and Administrative Committee, Special Committee for Waterworks Treatment Plant, Cable Television Franchise Review Committee, and Special Projects/Public Safety, Health, and Environmental Committee.  Lance is a member of the Louisiana Police Jury Association and the National Association of County Officials.

 

Lance was appointed to the Community Action Advisory Board as a Public Official Appointment representing the Parish Council; he was appointed as an Alternate Member to the River Region Caucus in July 2006 and reappointed in 2007.
