Proclamation: "National Night Out"

P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) is sponsoring a unique, nationwide crime and drug prevention program on October 16, 2012, called "National Night Out"; and,
WHEREAS, the "29th Annual National Night Out" provides a unique opportunity for St. Charles Parish to join forces with thousands of other communities across the country in promoting cooperative police-community crime and drug prevention efforts; and,
WHEREAS, "National Night Out" is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and sends a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back; and,
WHEREAS, the Council plays a vital role in assisting the Sheriff's Department through joint crime and drug prevention efforts in St. Charles Parish and is supporting "National Night Out 2012" locally; and,
WHEREAS, it is essential that all citizens of St. Charles Parish be aware of the importance of crime prevention programs and impact that their participation can have on reducing crime, drugs, and violence in St. Charles Parish; and,
WHEREAS, police-community partnerships and neighborhood safety, awareness, and cooperation are important themes of the "National Night Out" program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY call upon all citizens of St. Charles Parish to join the Sheriff's Department and the National Association of Town Watch in supporting the "29th Annual National Night Out" on October 16, 2012; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, WE, THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby proclaim Tuesday, October 16, 2012, from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM as
"NATIONAL NIGHT OUT"
in St. Charles Parish.
