P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS,      Americans all remember certain dates when events have changed history; all true Texans always remember March 6, 1836, as "The Day of the Alamo"; all Americans remember December 7, 1941, as "Pearl Harbor Day"; in Louisiana, the citizens will always remember August 29, 2005, as the day of "Hurricane Katrina"; and all Americans will always remember September 11, 2001, as the infamous day of "9/11"; and,
WHEREAS,      this year will mark the 10th Anniversary of "9/11", and the 6th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina; and,
WHEREAS,      the members of the Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons of the State of Louisiana will host a Day of Remembrance on Monday, "Labor Day", September 5, 2011, at the Jerusalem Shrine Center in Destrehan, Louisiana, in memory of all men and women who lost their lives during "9/11" and during and following Hurricane Katrina, and also remember the heroic efforts of many volunteers; and,
WHEREAS,      September 5, 2011, will be set aside this year to properly remember the 10th Anniversary of "9/11" and the 6th Anniversary of "Hurricane Katrina".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM SEPTEMBER 5, 2011, NOT ONLY "LABOR DAY" BUT ALSO THE
"DAY OF REMEMBRANCE OF THE
10TH ANNIVERSARY OF 9/11 AND THE
6TH ANNIVERSARY OF HURRICANE KATRINA"
IN ST. CHARLES PARISH AND URGE ALL CITIZENS TO PARTICIPATE IN, OBSERVE, AND HELP TO PROPERLY REMEMBER THESE TRAGIC EVENTS AND THEIR EFFECT ON OUR STATE AND ON OUR NATION.
