ORDINANCE NO.                                                                 

Title

An ordinance to clarify and establish the street name of East Terrace Street in New Sarpy.

Body

WHEREAS,                     New Sarpy Acres was laid out on a Plat by the Blythe Company, Inc. on April 27, 1922 with the designation of a “30 Foot Roadway” on said Plat which did not identify a name for the Roadway; and,

WHEREAS,                     the proposed Roadway shown on the plat extended from the Y. & M. V. Railroad, (now known as the Canadian National Railroad), to the L. R. & N. Railroad, (now known as Kansas City Southern Railway) and is commonly known as East Terrace Street, an extension of Terrace Street which extends from River Road to the Canadian National Railroad, however it has not been formally named and needs to be clarified and established as East Terrace Street; and,

WHEREAS,                     the residents living along East Terrace Street were contacted regarding the proposed street name clarification and no opposition was received; and,

WHEREAS,                     in order to avoid further confusion as to the name of this portion of the street, it is the desire of the parish council that the name officially be designated as East Terrace Street for the purpose of proper identification by Emergency 911 Service and mail delivery service.

THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:

                     SECTION I.                     That the street segment known as East Terrace Street in New Sarpy, LA, from the Canadian National Railroad to the dead end, be established as East Terrace Street, New Sarpy, LA.

                     SECTION II.                     That a copy of this ordinance be sent to the St. Charles Parish Communications District, the St. Charles Parish Planning Department and the U. S. Postal Service.

SECTION III.                     If any word, clause, phrase, section or other portion of this ordinance shall be declared null, void, invalid, illegal or unconstitutional, the remaining words, clauses, phrases, sections and other portions of this ordinance shall remain in full force and effect, the provisions of this ordinance hereby being declared to be severable.

SECTION IV.                     That the adoption of this ordinance shall not affect the status of any private or public streets, regarding maintenance or any other public facilities or services, and is for identification purposes only.

                     The foregoing ordinance having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:

 

 

 

 

                     And the ordinance was declared adopted this              day of                      , 2022, to become effective five (5) days after publication in the Official Journal.
