Proclamation: “German Coast Farmers Market Day”

P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, the Paul Maillard Road Revitalization Plan was adopted in 2014 and the Paul Maillard Community Development Corporation (PMCDC) was incorporated on December 16, 2015, as recommended in the revitalization plan as an implementation strategy for the Economic Development and Tourism Department; and,
WHEREAS, a goal of the PMCDC is to increase and enhance access to healthy food and value added items to benefit the community; and,
WHEREAS, the German Coast Farmers’ Market has served as a community gathering place, tourist destination, and a market for a wide range of fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, and other value-added items for over eleven years; and,
WHEREAS, the mission of the German Coast Farmers’ Market aligns with the project goal to create opportunities for community gathering places along Paul Maillard Road; and,
WHEREAS, making healthy, locally sourced, food available to the Paul Maillard Road neighborhood creates an opportunity to implement an idea generated by the community; and,
WHEREAS, the Paul Maillard Community Development Corporation and the German Coast Farmers' Market will take all steps necessary to enhance and preserve the historic Paul Maillard Corridor by safeguarding its residential and commercial history and integrity for this and future generations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM WEDNESDAY, MAY 25, 2016 AS
“GERMAN COAST FARMERS MARKET DAY”
IN ST. CHARLES PARISH AND URGE ALL COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO VISIT AND SHOP THE FARMERS’ MARKET AND JOIN IN THE FESTIVITIES AT THE WINNWOOD SHOPPING CENTER, 1313 PAUL MAILLARD ROAD, LULING FROM 3PM - 6PM AND TO ATTEND THE FESTIVITIES THAT WILL BE HELD IN AUGUST, OCTOBER, AND DECEMBER AT THE WINNWOOD SHOPPING CENTER.
