Title
A resolution requesting the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development install signal lights at U.S. 90 at LA 632 in Des Allemands.
Body
WHEREAS, due to the increase in vehicular traffic in this area, especially impacted by the traffic from I 310, it is necessary for the State of Louisiana to install signal lights at U.S. 90 at LA 632 in Des Allemands; and,
WHEREAS, for the safety of the Allemands School students and buses using this intersection; and,
WHEREAS, for the safety of the St. Charles Parish deputies working special events/assignments to control traffic from Allemends Elementary; and,
WHEREAS, helping to avoid accidents such as the one that claimed the life of a 27 year old Lockport man on Wednesday, September 3, 2003; and,
WHEREAS, on several occasions Senator Joel T. Chaisson, II, State Representative Gary L. Smith, Jr., along with the Parish Council has sent several requests asking for the installation of traffic lights at this location; and,
WHEREAS, the officials of St. Charles Parish believe that this request should carry a high priority for the safety of all concerned and has expressed this concern in the past with resolutions requesting the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development to install traffic lights at this location.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL do hereby request that the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development install signal lights at U.S. 90 at LA 632 in Des Allemands.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to Governor Mike Foster, Senator Joel T. Chaisson, II, Representative Gary L. Smith, Jr., and the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development requesting their assistance in this regard.
