Proclamation: Alpha Daughters of Zion 9th Annual Benefit Gala Day

PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Alpha Daughters of Zion Domestic Violence Program, a non-profit organization in St. Charles Parish, provides a network of free and confidential services for victims of domestic/intimate partner violence to help them live their life free from violence; and,
WHEREAS, the physical and emotional scars of domestic violence can cast a long shadow on too many individuals, regardless of race, age, gender, and income levels. While physical marks may often be the most obvious signs of domestic violence, the true extent of the pain goes much deeper; and,
WHEREAS, Alpha Daughters of Zion Domestic Violence Program helps victims regain their physical and emotional strength by listening, supporting, and educating. The organization helps with providing food, shelter, and referrals to legal assistance, child care, employment, financial and medical assistance, housing and transportation, while providing life skills that will help with success in the workforce. This is accomplished through State, Federal, and Local grant monies as well as partnerships with other non-profit organizations and agencies, and with citizens providing tax deductible monetary and material donations; and,
WHEREAS, Alpha Daughters of Zion Domestic Violence Program will sponsor their Ninth Annual Benefit Gala on Saturday, March 3, 2018, 6pm - 9pm, at the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center, 274 Judge Edward Dufresne Parkway, Luling, LA 70070. Tickets for the Gala can be purchased by calling 985-308-0819; and,
WHEREAS, Speak Up, Speak Out, and make a difference for victims of domestic/intimate partner violence.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY proclaim Saturday, March 3, 2018, as
ALPHA DAUGHTERS OF ZION
9th ANNUAL BENEFIT GALA DAY
in St. Charles Parish.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, WE, THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby urge everyone to show support to Alpha Daughters of Zion Domestic Violence Program and all victims of violence.
