IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Kenny Guedry is a native and lifelong resident of St. Charles Parish residing in New Sarpy, Louisiana. He is married to Carol Waguespack and is the proud father of Brittany and Jeremy; and,
WHEREAS, Coach Kenny began volunteering with children and adults with intellectual disabilities in 2008 with the St. Charles Parish Challenger Baseball program and has been a volunteer coach with the Special Olympics since 2009; and,
WHEREAS, involvement in Special Olympics goes well beyond the ball fields and playing courts; the sense of accomplishment, fellowship, and sportsmanship empowers Special Olympic athletes to become more effective and productive family members, employees, and community members. Coach Kenny understands and embraces the impact that Special Olympics has on the athletes and all the coaches and volunteers; and,
WHEREAS, as a diligent and motivational leader, Coach Kenny takes the initiative in organizing athletic events and insures that these events are successful. He is a certified coach in bowling, aquatics, track and field, and basketball, he has enhanced the St. Charles Orcas Swim Team, and he has organized and trained the St. Charles Parish’s three Unified - 3 on 3 Basketball Teams, which gave the athletes an opportunity to play basketball on the state level. In 2013, he was awarded Outstanding Special Olympics Louisiana Coach and in 2014, he was a coach on team Louisiana and attended the Special Olympics USA games held in New Jersey; and,
WHEREAS, Coach Kenny has spent a great deal of time making a difference in the lives of these athletes. He trains and leads them on the local, state, and national level, allowing them to experience the joys of success and gives them the opportunity to reach their full potential.
