WHEREAS,                     the Destrehan High School Desty Darlings Competition Dance Team competed in the UDA National Dance Team Championship held February 4-7, 2022, at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, in Orlando, Florida; and,

WHEREAS,                     in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, competition for this season seemed out of the question for the Desty Darlings because many of the dance team’s performers had lost their homes, and the high school itself incurred significant damage, but this team was quite determined to return; and,

WHEREAS,                     prior to the national tournament, the Desty Darlings captured first place in the UDA Regional competition, and won the sweepstakes in the American All-Star State competition; and,

WHEREAS,                     for the first time in school history, the Desty Darlings earned UDA National Championship honors, capturing the top position in the Small Varsity Game Day competition.  They came in fourth in the nation in Hip Hop and placed 16^th in the nation in Jazz; and,

WHEREAS,                     members of the St. Charles Parish Council and the Parish President wish to recognize the outstanding performance of the Destrehan High School Desty Darlings Competition Dance Team.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, WE THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY RECOGNIZE
