Title
A resolution supporting the application for funding of the Judge Edward Dufresne Parkway Extension Project Phase I through the Economic Development Administration’s American Rescue Plan funding opportunity.
Body
WHEREAS, the Economic Development Administration will be soliciting applications for an upcoming funding opportunity under the American Rescue Plan; and,
WHEREAS, the Judge Edward Dufresne Parkway Extension Project is a Parish project that includes the construction of a 1.9 mile four-lane roadway that will extend Judge Edward Dufresne Parkway and connect to Louisiana Highway 3127; and,
WHEREAS, the project will spur economic growth within St. Charles Parish by providing access to over 500 acres of undeveloped land primed to capture hundreds of millions of dollars of light-industrial and commercial development that will create an abundance of employment opportunities for residents of St. Charles Parish and the surrounding areas; and,
WHEREAS, the project offers a secondary access to and from the schools, public facilities, and businesses located along the parkway thereby enhancing emergency response and life safety; and,
WHEREAS, the project will catalyze the second phase of the Esperanza Business Park development and expedite future phases of expansion; and,
WHEREAS, the Parish is preparing an application to the Economic Development Administration to request funds to construct Phase I of the project which includes the installation of a two lane roadway as an eligible project under the program; and,
WHEREAS, the Parish Council’s support for the application is requested.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby approve and support the application for funding of the Judge Edward Dufresne Parkway Extension Project Phase I through the Economic Development Administration’s American Rescue Plan funding opportunity.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Parish President is hereby authorized to execute said application and to act on behalf of St. Charles Parish in all matters pertaining to this project and subsequent grant award.
