Title
An ordinance to amend the St. Charles Parish Code of Ordinances, Chapter 2, Article II, Departments, Sec. 2-18. Department of emergency preparedness., to change the name of the Department of Emergency Preparedness to the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness on the Chapter’s title page as well as (a) and (c) of Sec. 2-18.
Body
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Council adopted Ordinance No. 80-6-3 on June 9, 1980, which created the Department of Emergency Preparedness and provided for its functions and responsibilities; and,
WHEREAS, the St. Charles Parish Council adopted Ordinance No. 05-4-9 on April 4, 2005, which granted Homeland Security responsibilities to the Department; and,
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Parish Council to officially change the name of the Department of Emergency Preparedness to the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That the St. Charles Parish Code of Ordinances, Chapter 2, Article II, Departments, Sec. 2-18. Department of emergency preparedness., on the Chapter’s title page is hereby amended with new text underlined and deleted text in strikethrough:
Sec. 2-18. Department of emergency preparedness. Department of homeland security and emergency preparedness.
SECTION II. That the St. Charles Parish Code Chapter 2, Article II, Departments, Sec. 2-18. Department of emergency preparedness., (a) and (c) is hereby amended with new text underlined and deleted text in strikethrough:
Sec. 2-18. Department of emergency preparedness. Department of homeland security and emergency preparedness.
(a) There is hereby created the department of emergency preparedness department of homeland security and emergency preparedness.
(c) The duties of the director of emergency preparedness homeland security and emergency preparedness shall consist of carrying out the functions and responsibilities of the department of emergency preparedness homeland security and emergency preparedness.
The foregoing ordinance having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:
And the ordinance was declared adopted this day of , 2025, to become effective five (5) days after publication in the Official Journal.
