Proclamation: Warrior Dash 5K Run Weekend

PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Warrior Dash is an extreme 5K Obstacle Run which will be held on March 5th - 6th, 2011 in the Bonnet Carre' Spillway, Norco, hosted by Red Frog Events; and,
WHEREAS, after its inaugural Chicago run in 2009, Warrior Dash sold out at 2,000 participants, and has since grown into one of the largest and most successful running circuits in the United States with over 160,000 total participants in 2010; and,
WHEREAS, Red Frog Events and Warrior Dash maintain several National and Local Partnerships that serve to benefit the greater good; and,
WHEREAS, through a National Partnership with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Red Frog Events was able to donate over $175,000 in 2010, a figure projected to grow substantially in 2011; and,
WHEREAS, additionally, a National Partnership with Green Sneakers has allowed Warrior Dash to donate tens of thousands of tennis shoes to needy individuals in third world countries; and,
WHEREAS, finally, through Volunteer Partnerships at each individual run, Red Frog Events and Warrior Dash has been able to donate an estimated $350,000 to worthy local charity and volunteer groups throughout the United States in 2010; and,
WHEREAS, alongside overwhelmingly positive support from Warrior Dash host governments across the United States, Red Frog Events recently received a 2010 Stevie Award for North American Company of the Year; and,
WHEREAS, Warrior Dash continues to grow and looks forward to giving in new and even more substantial ways to the people of St. Charles Parish and the State of Louisiana for the first time in 2011; and,
WHEREAS, the Parish President and the members of the Parish Council wish to join in and lend their support for this most worthy cause.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM MARCH 5TH - 6TH, 2011, AS
WARRIOR DASH
5K RUN WEEKEND

ST. CHARLES PARISH
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, THAT THE CITIZENS OF ST. CHARLES PARISH ARE HEREBY URGED TO ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE AND BE A PART OF THIS UNIQUE FESTIVAL.
