IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Lynwood Walker is a resident of St. Charles Parish residing in Hahnville, Louisiana with his parents Lynwood and Mary Walker and his two sisters Monique and Kimberly; and,
WHEREAS, Lynwood, a Senior at Hahnville High School, has been named 2005 Hahnville High School Student of the Year and 2005 District High School Student of the Year; and,
WHEREAS, Lynwood is the Captain of the Quiz Bowl Team, an Element Leader of the Jr. ROTC, a member of the Beta Club, National Honor Society, Literacy Society, Interact Club and Who's Who Among American High School Students; he is also an altar server at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hahnville; and,
WHEREAS, Lynwood was selected a Ventura Scholar, a semi-finalist in the National Achievement Academy Scholarship Program, a Top 10 finalist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Summer Program and a winner in the American Legion Oratorical Voice of Democracy School and District contests; and,
WHEREAS, Lynwood lists his other achievements as winning several ROTC honors, receiving awards in school, Parish and Regional Science Fairs, Young Authors Contest and Black History Art competitions; and,
WHEREAS, Lynwood has a 4.0 GPA and plans to attend MIT majoring in Physics and plans to obtain a Doctorate Degree and pursue a career in Physics Research; and,
WHEREAS, Lynwood credits the strong presence of his parents with his successes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
