IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Carolyn & Gilbert Schexnaydre, Jr. are residents of St. Charles Parish, currently residing in Destrehan, Louisiana; and,
WHEREAS, Gilbert, after 27 years of service is a retired G.A.T.X. employee; he is presently employed by Motiva of Norco and despite the challenges of diabetes, he is an active member of the community; and,
WHEREAS, Gilbert has trained as a Volunteer Fire Fighter and as a first responder in the medical field; he has educated local students with special demonstrations on Louisiana Resources; he is an avid conservationist and a tireless fisherman; and,
WHEREAS, Carolyn is gifted with a special talent for baking and decorating cakes; her tireless volunteer efforts are appreciated by the American Legion Unit 366, which she presently is President and has been a member since 1993; she is an active member of the F.C.E. Homemakers Club since 1988, serving as President, Vice-President, Secretary, and was voted outstanding member for six years; and,
WHEREAS, Carolyn has chaired the State books on Housing, Energy and the Environment Committee, having been awarded blue ribbons for these; she has been Special Projects Leader; and was awarded the key leadership award; and,
WHEREAS, Carolyn reaches out to the infirmed in the local nursing home, makes the elderly feel special when it is their birthdays, volunteers to help with their carnival balls, Christmas, and Thanksgiving parties; and,
WHEREAS, Carolyn & Gilbert opened their home to a troubled teen providing him a safe haven, clothing, personal items, spending money, and helped him meet his educational needs; and,
WHEREAS, Carolyn & Gilbert have three children, Obidie, Jonathon, and Gene, who are great examples of the next generation of Community Volunteer Servers; and,
WHEREAS, Carolyn & Gilbert were honored with receiving the prestigious award for the Great American Family from the Louisiana Volunteers for Family and Community (LVFC) for their services to their Community and Parish.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
CAROLYN & GILBERT SCHEXNAYDRE, JR.
