Title
A resolution requesting the Department of Transportation and Development to construct a center turning lane on U. S. Highway 90 in St. Charles Parish from Maryland Drive to Coronado Drive West.
Body
WHEREAS, U. S. Highway 90 is a very heavily traveled roadway and the main thoroughfare through the Commercial District of St. Charles Parish; and,
WHEREAS, with the addition of Primrose I & II Subdivisions and the numerous new businesses along this section of U. S. Highway 90, traffic has increased at an alarming rate; and,
WHEREAS, numerous accidents have occurred on this undivided stretch of highway; and,
WHEREAS, adequate right-of-way exists to accommodate a center turning lane with no additional land acquisition.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby request that the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development construct a center turning lane on U. S. Highway 90 in St. Charles Parish from Maryland Drive to Coronado Drive West.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution be forwarded to Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco, State Senator Joel T. Chaisson, II, State Representative Gary L. Smith, Jr., and State Representative Ernest D. Wooton.
