INTRODUCED BY:      ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL
RESOLUTION NO.
Title
A resolution requesting the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development remove the caution signal light at Highway 90 and LA 632 (WPA Road) Des Allemands and replace with a traffic control signal.
Body
WHEREAS,      Highway 90 is a very heavily traveled roadway with increasing traffic on a daily basis, the I-49 traffic study shows that this area will be over burdened within the next 5 - 10 years; and,
WHEREAS,      traffic from the Des Allemands Business District going east and LA 632 going west must cross over Highway 90 and at peak traffic hours lack of a traffic control signal presents hazardous driving conditions; and,
WHEREAS,      school buses traveling west bound have to cross Highway 90 turning onto LA 632 (WPA Road) presenting dangerous situations for these buses and students; and,
WHEREAS,      residents using the playground facilities on LA 632 (WPA Road) are also presented with dangerous crossings at this location; and,
WHEREAS,      it is imperative that the Department of Transportation & Development take whatever measures are necessary to reduce and eliminate the hazardous situation at this location with the installation of a traffic control signal especially with the heavy increases since Hurricane Katrina and the unexpected growth being experienced within St. Charles Parish that will continue to over burden this traffic area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby request that the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development remove the caution signal light at Highway 90 and LA 632 (WPA Road) Des Allemands and replace with a traffic control signal.
