IN RECOGNITION
 
WHEREAS, Mrs. Betty LaNasa Haydel is a resident of St. Charles Parish residing in Destrehan, Louisiana, with her husband Harold Haydel; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Betty LaNasa Haydel is a Member of the River Road Historical Society Board, served on the original Board which was organized in 1971 and was recently recognized for her 30 years of dedication as a Board Member at an event held at the Destrehan Plantation's Mule Barn; and,
WHEREAS, the Plantation House was built in 1787 and operated as a thriving sugar plantation, and after many generations of descendant ownership and various oil companies, the property vacated in the late 1950's and in jeopardy of being destroyed, the property was deeded to a group of local citizens who formed the River Road Historical Society and they began cleaning and restoring the property; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Betty LaNasa Haydel, as a Member of the River Road Historical Society, has worked diligently to help in the many significant improvements at Destrehan Plantation; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Betty LaNasa Haydel in addition to serving as Treasurer of the River Road Historical Society, is a Member of the St. Charles Parish Economic Development Council, the River Region Arts and Humanities Council Board of Directors and the recently formed River Parishes Tourist Commission; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Betty LaNasa Haydel will be honored this year with the Destrehan Plantation's 30th Annual Fall Festival held on November 10th & 11th dedicated to her for her continuing work on the restoration of the property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
MRS. BETTY LANASA HAYDEL
