IN   RECOGNITION

WHEREAS,                     Emily Mae Hymel is a resident of St. Charles Parish residing in Destrehan, Louisiana with her parents Danielle and Edward Hymel and her sister Katie; and,

WHEREAS,                     Emily is a 2015 graduate of Destrehan High School and is currently a freshman at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology/Pre-Physical Therapy.  She hopes to eventually obtain a PhD specializing in Pediatric PT and plans to open her own rehabilitation center in St. Charles Parish at some point in the future; and,

WHEREAS,                     Emily is very involved in her community; volunteering for the Wetland Watchers, Teen CROSS, St. Charles Borromeo Fountain of Youth Ministry Program, Down Syndrome Association of New Orleans Buddy Walk, German Coast Farmer’s Market, St. Charles Parish Relay for Life, Alligator Festival, Little Red Church Food and Fun Fest, World Youth Day, Abbey Youth Fest, feeding the homeless, Haunted History Hike in Wetland Watchers Park, Nursing Home Mardi Gras Ball, Counselor for Swamp School and Beecuz You Matter Camp; and,

WHEREAS,                     Emily describes herself as dependable, adventurous, and enthusiastic; and,

WHEREAS,                     on Sunday, August 2, 2015, Emily was crowned the 57th Miss Queen at the annual St. Charles Parish Festival Pageant held at Sacred Heart School in Norco, and was also the winner of the Fashion and Sweetness awards; and,

WHEREAS,                     Emily will represent St. Charles Parish at the 2015 Louisiana Sugar Cane Festival, Queen Sugar pageant on Saturday, September 26, 2015, in New Iberia and also at several fairs and festivals throughout Louisiana.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
