Title
A resolution requesting the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development to re-stripe and re-mark US Highway 61 (Airline Drive) and LA 48 (River Road) from the Western Boundary Line of St. Charles Parish to the Eastern Boundary Line of St. Charles Parish.
Body
WHEREAS,      US Highway 61 (Airline Drive) and LA 48 (River Road) are the main thoroughfares for East West travel on the East Bank of St. Charles Parish; and,
WHEREAS,      US Highway 61 (Airline Drive) and LA 48 (River Road) are both used as evacuation routes during emergencies not only by St. Charles Parish but surrounding Parishes; and,
WHEREAS,      US Highway 61 (Airline Drive) and LA 48 (River Road) are used on a daily basis by the citizens, workers from the numerous plants and business in the area, and most of all by school buses carrying hundreds of students to school; and,
WHEREAS,      the striping and markings on these two road surfaces are barley visible or missing that from dusk to dawn and during inclement weather these avenues of travel present hazardous driving conditions.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, do hereby request the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development to re-stripe and re-mark US Highway 61 (Airline Drive) and LA 48 (River Road) from the Western Boundary Line of St. Charles Parish to the Eastern Boundary Line of St. Charles Parish.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Governor Bobby Jindal, Department of Transportation and Development Secretary Mr. William Ankner, Department of Transportation and Development Administrator Mr. Michael Stack, Department of Transportation and Development Assistant District Administrator of Operations Mr. R. H. "Buzzy" Wegner, Department of Transportation and Development Legislative Liaison Mr. Roy Quezaire, Senator Joel T. Chaisson, II, Representative Gary L. Smith, Jr., and Representative Ernest D. Wooton requesting their assistance on this matter.
