Title
An ordinance approving and authorizing the execution of a Professional Services Agreement with Huseman & Associates, L.L.C., to perform engineering services for the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center Chiller Replacement/Upgrade (Project No. GB240701), in the not to exceed amount of $58,420.00.
Body
WHEREAS, the existing chiller has failed on several occasions and has proven to be unreliable in providing sufficient climate control; and,
WHEREAS, the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center houses 3 Parish Departments on a full time basis, numerous meetings and rental obligations, as well as sporting events and youth camps; and,
WHEREAS, the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center also serves as a shelter for residents during inclement weather such as a cooling shelter in the summer, a warming shelter in the winter and as a shelter of last resort during hurricanes; and,
WHEREAS, it is critical that we are able to depend on the Chiller HVAC system daily as well as in critical emergencies the parish desires to enter into an agreement with Huseman & Associates, L.L.C. to design a robust system with redundant capabilities; and,
WHEREAS, the attached Professional Services Agreement between St. Charles Parish and Huseman & Associates, L.L.C. describes the details of the proposed services and compensation.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That the Professional Services Agreement between St. Charles Parish and Huseman & Associates L.L.C., to perform engineering services for the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center Chiller Replacement/Upgrade (Project No. GB240701), in the not to exceed amount of $58,420.00 is hereby approved and accepted.
SECTION II. That the Parish President is hereby authorized to execute said Agreement on behalf of St. Charles Parish.
The foregoing ordinance having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:
And the ordinance was declared adopted this ______ day of __________, 2024, to become effective five (5) days after publication in the Official Journal.
