Title

In Recognition:  Mr. Johnny “John” Marino, Jr. - Justice of the Peace, District VI

Body

The Parish of St. Charles

March 24, 2025

IN   RECOGNITION

WHEREAS,                     Johnny “John” Marino, Jr., is a native of St. Charles Parish, and has resided in both Norco and New Sarpy.  He is married to Brenda Buccola and are the proud parents of five (5) children: John III, Aaron, Sonny, Alicia, and the late daughter, Courtney, and are the proud grandparents of nine grandchildren; and,

WHEREAS,                     John retired from Shell Norco, after 32 years as a pipefitter; and,

WHEREAS,                     on October 5, 2002, John was elected Justice of the Peace of District VI in St. Charles Parish and has won three additional terms, serving for 24 years concurrently before retiring on January 10, 2025; he was instrumental in the Parish’s Justice of the Peace and Constables gaining parish-wide civil jurisdiction; and,

WHEREAS,                     John was honored to serve during the administration of Governors Kathleen Blanco, Bobby Jindal, John Bel Edwards, and Jeff Landry; and,

WHEREAS,                     during his career in public service, John was an asset to the public in timely and competent resolution of civil matters and the pursuit of justice in criminal matters.  He has married hundreds of couples in his tenure and retains marrying privileges post-retirement.  He was a voice of reason in handling the civil matters brought before his court and would make the lives of both Sheriff’s Deputies and District Judges easier in being available at all hours to review probable cause for arrest warrants.  A significant portion of the arrest warrants which came across his desk involved incidents outside of his district boundaries.  This cooperation with his criminal justice partners undoubtedly contributed to the greater safety and peace of our streets.  For this, we are all better served.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, Duly Assembled on this 24th day of March, 2025 do hereby express our sincere thanks and appreciation for Outstanding and Distinguished Public Service to

Johnny “John” Marino, Jr.

Justice of the Peace, District VI, St. Charles Parish

October 5, 2002 - January 10, 2025
