TRIBUTE

 

District VI, Councilman RICHARD "DICKIE" DUHE is a lifelong resident of the Norco-Good Hope area.  He is married to Linda Duhe and they are the proud parents of four children, Michael, Kitty, Danielle, and the late Ricky Duhe and have five grandchildren, Mallory, Madeline, Benjamin, Hunter, and Tea′.

 

"Dickie" has served a total of twenty-four years as an Elected Official representing St. Charles Parish.  He first served for eight years as Constable for District VI; was first elected to the Parish Council in 1988 as the District VI Councilman and remained in that position for three consecutive terms.  Because of term limits, he took four years off and in 2003 was elected again as the Councilman representing District VI.

 

"Dickie" is a 1961 graduate of Destrehan High School and later graduated from Delgado Community College.  He retired from Shell Oil Company after 33 years of service.

 

"Dickie" has a long record of service to the community, working with church, civic, and school groups.  He is a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Norco.  He was a Cub and Boy Scout Leader, Pee-Wee Football and Basketball Coach, Past President of East St. Charles Jaycees, Volunteer Fireman, Emergency Response Team at Shell Oil, Treasurer of Knights of Columbus Council 3634, Board Member of St. Charles Chapter of LA Council of Child Abuse and Sacred Heart Church Fair.

 

"Dickie" served as Chairman of the Operations, Maintenance, and Construction Management Committee, and served on the Legislative Committee, Contract/Finance and Administrative Committee, Special Projects/Public Safety, Health, and Environmental Committee, Special Committee for Waterworks Treatment Plant, and Cable Television Franchise Review Committee.  He served as the Ex-Officio to the Coastal Zone Advisory Committee and is currently the Chairman of the Beautification Task Force.

 

"Dickie" is a member of the Louisiana Police Jury Association and the National Association of County Officials.
