Title
A resolution requesting the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development perform a review of the Canadian National Railroad Crossing and area on East Harding Street, New Sarpy, for a recommendation to determine the feasibility of adding gates at the existing crossing and further request the installation of gates if review determines gates are warranted.
Body
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 3379 was adopted on October 16, 1989 initiating the installation of automatic gates at several crossings, including Harding Street in New Sarpy, on the East Bank of St. Charles Parish; and,
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 4945 was adopted on August 20, 2001 agreeing that the Governing Body will install and maintain advance warning signs and pavement markings on East Harding Street in New Sarpy (State Project No. 714-45-0001, FAP No. STP-4500 (508) Crossing No. 303-192H); and,
WHEREAS, there exists a vital need to protect citizens using the railroad crossing at East Harding Street in New Sarpy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL do hereby request that the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development perform a review of the Canadian National Railroad Crossing and area on East Harding Street, New Sarpy for a recommendation to determine the feasibility of adding gates at the existing crossing and further request the installation of gates if review determines gates are warranted.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Senator Gary L. Smith, Jr., Senator Edward J. “Ed” Price, Representative Randal L. Gaines, Representative Gregory A. Miller, and Representative Joseph A. Stagni requesting their assistance in this regard.
The foregoing resolution having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was as follows:
And the resolution was declared adopted this day of , 2020, to become effective five (5) days after publication in the Official Journal.
