An ordinance to approve and authorize the execution of a Parish/State Agreement for an Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed North-South Corridor Hurricane Evacuation Route, State Project No. 700-99-0302, Federal Aid Project No. HP-9902 (518).
Body
WHEREAS, the South Central Planning & Development Commission has been working with its member parishes to secure a Hurricane Evacuation Route from US90/I-49 to LA3127 at the Veterans Memorial Bridge; and,
WHEREAS, the current Statewide Intermodal Transportation Plan includes the North-South Corridor/Hurricane Protection Evacuation Route Project; and,
WHEREAS, an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is required and federal funding has been secured and is available; and,
WHEREAS, the Parishes of Assumption, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Mary, and Terrebonne are desirous to participate in the funding of the local match for the EIS; and,
WHEREAS, the DOTD is agreeable to the implementation of this Project and desires to cooperate with the Parishes; and,
WHEREAS, a Parish/State Agreement has been prepared by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development to facilitate the local match for the EIS.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION I. That the State of Louisiana, Department of Transportation and Development Parish/State Agreement, State Project No. 700-99-0302, Federal Aid Project No. HP-9902 (518), North-South Corridor Hurricane Evacuation Route Environmental Impact Statement is hereby approved.
SECTION II. That the Parish President is hereby authorized to execute the Agreement on behalf of St. Charles Parish.
