IN RECOGNITION

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Ralph Miller is a resident of St. Charles Parish residing in Norco, Louisiana, with his wife Susan Cutrer Miller; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Ralph Miller is a Member of the River Road Historical Society Board, served on the original Board which was organized in 1971 and was recently recognized for his 30 years of dedication as a Board Member at an event held at the Destrehan Plantation's Mule Barn; and,

WHEREAS, the Plantation House was built in 1787 and operated as a thriving sugar plantation, and after many generations of descendant ownership and various oil companies, the property vacated in the late 1950's and in jeopardy of being destroyed, the property was deeded to a group of local citizens who formed the River Road Historical Society and they began cleaning and restoring the property; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Ralph Miller, as a Member of the River Road Historical Society, has worked diligently to help in the many significant improvements at Destrehan Plantation; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Ralph Miller is a past President of the River Road Historical Society and presently serves as the Society's Legal Advisor.  He is a former Louisiana State Representative, serving 22 years in that capacity.  He is also Vice-President of State Governmental Relations at Freeport McMoRan; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Ralph Miller will be honored this year with the Destrehan Plantation's 30th Annual Fall Festival held on November 10th & 11th dedicated to him for his continuing work on the restoration of the property.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to

MR. RALPH MILLER

 "PARISH   OF   PLENTY"

created in 1807 from the county of the

"German Coast", a parish of

unprecedented economic and social

development, known for its

  hospitality, rural living and sporting

opportunities… with the added

distinction of being located

on both sides of the

Mighty Mississippi River.
