Title
An ordinance requesting authorization for St. Charles Parish to award a Geotechnical Service Professional Services Agreement for the Ellington Levee Project to conduct soil boring investigations for the Ellington Levee in St. Charles Parish, SCP Project # P080905-5A.
Body
WHEREAS, the Ellington Levee is an integral part of the West Bank Hurricane Protection Levee system in St. Charles Parish, as well as the Lafourche Basin Levee District's (LBLD) Hurricane Protection Plan alignment proposed to the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority; and,
WHEREAS, soil boring investigations are needed to evaluate the soils at the levee location and provide data needed for design of the Ellington Levee project; and,
WHEREAS, the soil boring data is needed for potential certification of the foundation of the Ellington Levee to FEMA in an effort to provide data to reduce future flood insurance premiums under the current remapping process; and,
WHEREAS, St. Charles Parish has received three quotes for proposal on January 21, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. for Geotechnical Services for the Ellington Levee; and,
WHEREAS, Burk-Kleinpeter, Inc., Mark K. Roberts, P.E., the St. Charles Parish Consulting Engineer, has reviewed the quotes for proposal and has recommended the contract be awarded to the lowest qualified company providing a quote for Geotechnical Services for the Ellington Levee, Eustis Engineering Services, LLC, in the amount of $618,696.00.
THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL HEREBY ORDIANS:
SECTION I. That the Quote for Proposal from Eustis Engineering Services, LLC, for Geotechnical Services for the Ellington Levee, a part of the West Bank Hurricane Protection Levee system in St. Charles Parish, SCP Project # P080905-5A, be accepted in the amount of $618,696.00.
SECTION I. That the Parish President is hereby authorized to execute said agreement on behalf of the Parish of St. Charles.
