Proclamation: Louisiana Lions Camp Day in St. Charles Parish

P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Lions League for Crippled Children, Inc., which is funded by the Lions Clubs of Louisiana, has for over forty years operated the Louisiana Lions Camp near Leesville, LA; and,
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Lions Camp provides a summer camp, free for boys and girls with Mental or Physical challenges, Diabetes or Pulmonary Disorders; and,
WHEREAS, this Camp has provided a positive experience for thousands of handicapped children; and,
WHEREAS, in an effort to raise awareness and financial support for the Louisiana Lions Camp the Louisiana Lions Camp Camper Alumni Association, a group of handicapped former campers is sponsoring a "lawn tractor drive" across the State of Louisiana; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Dean Navarre, President of the Alumni Association, will drive a lawn tractor one-thousand twenty-seven miles across the State of Louisiana over thirty days, beginning on March 30, 2002, at the West Bank Bridge Park; and,
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Parish Council and the Parish President to call this most worthy cause to the attention of the Citizens of St. Charles Parish.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL, AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM SATURDAY, MARCH 30, 2002 AS
"LOUISIANA LIONS CAMP DAY"
IN ST. CHARLES PARISH
AND WE URGE ALL CITIZENS TO PARTICIPATE IN AND SUPPORT THIS CAUSE.
