IN RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Ajantha Ramachandran is a resident of St. Charles Parish residing in Destrehan, Louisiana with her parents Councilman 'Ram' and Susan Ramachandran; and,
WHEREAS, Ajantha is a 15 year old honor student at Destrehan High School in Destrehan; and,
WHEREAS, Ajantha has many extracurricular activities over the years to name a few; Indian Classical Dancing for over 10 years, Honor Choir, Honor Band, Marching and Symphonic Band, ThinkQuest, 4-H, Parish-wide 4-H Junior Leader, Destination Imagination, Beta Club, Student Leadership Action Corps, Tutor, Destrehan Honors Society, Honor Roll, Student Council, Quiz Bowl, and a member of Mu Alpha Theta; and,
WHEREAS, Ajantha has qualified and placed in many activities such as State Social Studies Fair, State Competition for Destination Imagination and qualified for the Global Finals, placed statewide in the Marching Band, recognized for Social Studies Projects, nominated the last four years for Congressional Student Leadership Conference and has won several years on the state level for the Louisiana Young Authors as recent as this year; and,
WHEREAS, Ajantha believes in giving back to her Community, she is a tutor at the New Sarpy Kindergarten Center, participates in the Cultural Program at the public library, part of the LaBranche Wetland Watchers, helps with Reading for Champs, helps with Ethel Schoeffner Elementary Band Program, part of the American Heart Association Jump Rope for Heart, participates in the Variety Show at Norco Adult Day Care Center, helped with toys for tots in the Parish and the New Orleans Superdome, and has participated in Relay for Life; and,
WHEREAS, Ajantha is a 10th grade student at Destrehan High School, qualifying as an Exceptional Gifted Student and has been accepted and will attend Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia, on a partial school scholarship as a 2006 Freshman, living in the exceptional gifted kids dormitory. Ajantha has chosen the Medical Field as her major. As part of her qualification, Ajantha has a GPA of 3.75, and ACT score of 23 and received a Subject SAT of 1300 in Physics, Biology, World History, and English. Ajantha has also applied for a Summer Medical Research Program at LSU Medical Center in Baton Rouge.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE ST. CHARLES PARISH COUNCIL AND THE PARISH PRESIDENT, do hereby offer this tribute and recognition to
